Tropfest New York

Making the move from Manhattan to Brooklyn, Tropfest took Prospect Park by storm on Saturday, June 22nd with 22,000 people attending the day/night filled with music, food, art and short film.

Kicking off at 1.00pm with a FREE 1-hour yoga class hosted by our partner, Prema Yoga Brooklyn, the event played host to music by People Get Ready, Ghost Beach, Bear in Heaven, Neon Indian (DJ Set) and headliners, Chairlift. At 8.00pm, host Liev Schreiber took to the stage to introduce the 16 captivating finalist films. After heated deliberation, the judges selected The Unlikely Maestro, directed by Nick Baker and Tristan Klein, as the winner of $20,000 and a ‘week of meetings’ in LA, sponsored by Motion Picture Association.

Brooklyn’s Borough President, Marty Markowitz said of Tropfest’s move to Brooklyn: “Brooklyn is home to more filmmakers per square inch than just about any place in the world. We’re very excited about hosting this fabulous free festival and look forward to Tropfest returning every year going forward.”
