Laughing Man Worldwide began with a promise and resulted in a friendship that forever changed the lives of actor Hugh Jackman and CEO of Laughing Man, David Steingard. In 2009, Jackman visited Ethiopia as a World Vision Ambassador and encountered a local coffee farmer named Dukale. Jackman joined Dukale on his farm to see how the naturally grown coffee that Dukale cultivated brought new jobs, prosperity and hope to his community. Struck by Dukale’s perseverance to improve his family’s quality of life, Jackman promised he would help and joined forces with his friend, David Steingard, who was starting a specialty coffee company at the time, inspired by the work of farmers like Dukale. It was then that Laughing Man Worldwide was born and Jackman and Steingard embarked on a mission to combine a love for coffee, respect for the environment, and support of the entrepreneurial spirit to work towards “All Be Happy.”
