  • In 2012, New York-based filmmaker Alexander Poe found out about Tropfest in the nick of time. Using a ‘Bagel’ for inspiration (‘Bagel’ was the Tropfest Signature Item in 2012), Poe quickly pulled together a script and a crew and made the fantastic short ‘The Break-Up Tour’. The film went on to win 2nd place at Tropfest New York and confirmed that Poe is certainly one emerging filmmaker to keep an eye out for.     Michael Neithardt began his career as Assistant to Miramax Film’s Bob Weinstein. He’s held posts at MTV Networks, Sony Music, ran Stardust Studios NY and currently is an Executive Producer at Psyop NY. He works extensively in theater as an actor and producer.

Today Tropfest announced that Academy Award winning producer Fisher Stevens (The Cove), Journalist and author Malcolm Gladwell (The New YorkerThe Tipping PointBlink), and WNYC host Leonard Lopate will be among the Judges at Tropfest New York on June 22nd in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. Other jurors will be announced soon. Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan) will host the festivities. Read more…
