    ‘Elevator’ is a suspense/ drama about a single mother, Jenny and her young son, Cody.

    Loosely based on the Director’s personal experience, ‘Elevator’ depicts the feeling of panic that ensues when mother and son are unfortunately separated.

    Jennifer Ross is from Melbourne, Australia. She is currently working on a film documenting a year in the running of vineyard, Bluestone Acres. ‘Elevator’ is her first short film.

    Victor Bruno has worked as recording engineer and music producer. ‘Thanks Dad’ is his directorial debut and is produced by Harrington Talents.

    A documentary that follows people who collect beverage containers as their principal source of income.

    Josh Leake is from Portland, Oregon and has eight chickens, two cats and a bulldog. ‘Emptys’ is his first film. Josh is currently in production on his second short and in development on a narrative based on a story by Bertholt Brecht.

  • In 2012, New York-based filmmaker Alexander Poe found out about Tropfest in the nick of time. Using a ‘Bagel’ for inspiration (‘Bagel’ was the Tropfest Signature Item in 2012), Poe quickly pulled together a script and a crew and made the fantastic short ‘The Break-Up Tour’. The film went on to win 2nd place at Tropfest New York and confirmed that Poe is certainly one emerging filmmaker to keep an eye out for.     ‘The Break-Up Tour’ follows a couple on a very personal tour of Greenwich Village.

    Alexander Poe is a writer/actor/director. His first feature film, ‘Ex-Girlfriends,’ will be released in the fall. Past work has played at the Tribeca Film Festival, the NYC Fringe, and the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

    “It’s all about the shoes” is a black comedy, told from the point of view of a self–obsessed woman, who wakes one morning to find her thoughts weighing heavily on her.

Today, we are excited to announce the sixteen finalists for Tropfest New York 2013. This doubles the number of finalists from last year!
