    Loosely based on the Director’s personal experience, ‘Elevator’ depicts the feeling of panic that ensues when mother and son are unfortunately separated.

    Jennifer Ross is from Melbourne, Australia. She is currently working on a film documenting a year in the running of vineyard, Bluestone Acres. ‘Elevator’ is her first short film.

    Alexander Poe is a writer/actor/director. His first feature film, ‘Ex-Girlfriends,’ will be released in the fall. Past work has played at the Tribeca Film Festival, the NYC Fringe, and the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

    Tropfest is returning to New York this summer! Making the move from Manhattan to Brooklyn, the event will be hosted by acclaimed actor, producer, director, and screenwriter Liev Schreiber on Saturday, June 22nd in Prospect Park.

    The move to Brooklyn will allow for an expanded festival featuring music, food, art installations and of course, a lineup of great short films that will be screened and judged live by an esteemed panel of industry and celebrity judges.

  • Tropfest, the world’s largest short film festival which staged its hugely successful U.S debut in Bryant Park earlier this year in front of a 10,000 plus capacity crowd, today announced its next phase of programming, the Roughcut film symposium. Produced in the United States in partnership with The Film Society of Lincoln Center, Roughcut is an exclusive and intimate day-long series of lectures, conversations and presentations about the art of storytelling on screen. The event will feature actor/writer/director Liev Schreiber (Salt, X-Men: Origins, Everything Is Illuminated), film editor Sarah Flack (Lost in Translation), producer/writer Scott Rosenberg (Gone in 60 Seconds, Con Air), Entertainment Weekly’s film critic Lisa Schwarzbaum, Global Chief Creative Officer of R/GA Nick Law and Tropfest’s founder and director/producer John Polson (Swimfan, Hide and Seek) in moderated conversations with FSLC Associate Director of Programming, Scott Foundas.  Best-selling author and journalist Malcolm Gladwell (The Tipping Point, Outliers) will keynote the event in a conversation with internationally celebrated screenwriter Charles Randolph (Love and Other Drugs). Roughcut will be held on Friday, December 7th beginning at 10 am at The Film Society of Lincoln Center’s landmark state-of-the-art Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center.

    Josh Leake is from Portland, Oregon and has eight chickens, two cats and a bulldog. ‘Emptys’ is his first film. Josh is currently in production on his second short and in development on a narrative based on a story by Bertholt Brecht.

Today Tropfest announced that Academy Award winning producer Fisher Stevens (The Cove), Journalist and author Malcolm Gladwell (The New YorkerThe Tipping PointBlink), and WNYC host Leonard Lopate will be among the Judges at Tropfest New York on June 22nd in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. Other jurors will be announced soon.
