2012 saw the return of Telstra Mobile Masterpieces, Tropfest’s mobile film category. Telstra Mobile Masterpieces recognizes the growing interest in mobile films.
Films entered had to follow the same rules as any other Tropfest film – be no longer than 7 minutes, be made specifically for Movie Extra Tropfest and include the Tropfest Signature Item (TSI) for 2012 – ‘LIGHT BULB’. And of course, the film had to have been shot entirely on a mobile phone or tablet device.
3 finalists were chosen and all 3 were screened on Sunday, 19 February as part of Movie Extra Tropfest 2012.
Jason van Genderen’s film ‘The 53rd Hour’ took out First Prize, receiving $5,000 cash from Telstra! The two Runners Up each received $500 cash and a Telstra mobile phone.
