Tropfest Australia 2015 entries closed on October 8, 2015.

Information regarding the next Tropfest competition will be available soon.

In the meantime, check out some of our resources below.

Not sure what the TSI is? Here's what you need to know.

Tropfest is about encouraging production of film, not just exhibition, so it's a requirement of entry that your film is made specifically for the Festival.

The TSI (or Tropfest Signature Item) is a way for us to know that your film has been made for the Festival.

The TSI for Tropfest Australia 2015 is "CARD". You can include the TSI in your film in any way you like and any interpretation of “CARD” is accepted – business card, greeting card, sim card, memory card, credit card, cardboard etc. You can create a whole story idea around the TSI, or you can choose to have in the script or even in the background of a shot somewhere. Be creative!

The winning filmmaker is set to receive enormous attention from the local and international film community PLUS:

  • $10,000 cash prize thanks to Kennedy Miller Mitchell
  • A trip to Los Angeles for a week of meetings with film industry executives, thanks to the Motion Picture Association and the Australian Screen Association.
  • A Nikon D800 + $2,000 RRP worth of lenses and accessories
  • Plus more to be announced

  • 2nd Place
  • 3rd Place
  • DSLR Film Award
  • Best Female and Male Actor (donated by Nicole Kidman)

  • Best Cinematography
  • Best Editing
  • Best Screenplay
  • Best VFX
  • Best Sound Design
  • Best Original Score

The Tropfest Craft Awards were last held in 2011, and return in 2015 thanks to the support of Nikon.

A coveted ‘fruit trophy’ hand made by Dinosaur Designs plus a generous store credit from Nikon will be awarded to the best in each category from the 16 finalist films.

Thanks to Nikon, world leader in camera and lens technology, the DSLR film category will return this year!

Filmmakers are invited to enter the category by making their Tropfest entries on DSLR camera. Entries will be eligible for the main film festival competition along with all other films but will also be eligible, under the DSLR Film Category, to win prizes presented by Nikon!

The same rules of entry apply to all films entered into Tropfest Australia 2015. Films must include the TSI ‘CARD’, can be no longer than seven minutes, must have never been seen by a public audience and must be specifically made for Tropfest.
